AMYA Constitution
Article I: Name
This organization shall be known as the American Model Yachting Association,
herein referred to as AMYA.
Article II: Purpose
2.1 The purpose of this organization is to promote the designing, building and
racing of radio controlled model sail yachts.
2.2 The Association will prescribe rules for the classification and competition
of yachts and promote competitive activities on a local, national and international
basis as well as encourage fellowship among model yachtsmen.
2.3 Information and communication will be provided through publications and
meetings of the Association.
2.4 This is a not-for-profit organization.
2.5 The association values diversity and inclusion amongst its members and actively
embraces these differences. We will continue to meet the changing needs of our
current and future membership. (2007)
Article III: Membership
3.1 Membership of the AMYA is open to anyone expressing an interest in model
yachting and agreeing to abide by the Constitution and By-Laws.
3.2 AMYA members who are not citizens of the United States are to be accorded
all membership rights and privileges. They may not, however, represent the USA
in international competition.
Article IV: Officers
4.1 The officials of the AMYA shall consist of a President, a Vice-President,
a Treasurer and the other Directors. The number and duties of the Directors
are prescribed in the Constitution and By-Laws of the Association.
Article V: Board of Directors, Executive Board
5.1 The Board of Directors of the Association shall consist of the three Officers
and the other Directors.
5.2 The Executive Board shall consist of the President (presiding), the Vice-President
and the Treasurer.
Article VI: Meetings
6.1 A general membership meeting may be called by the President with the approval
of the Board of Directors.
Article VII: Amendments
7.1 This Constitution may be amended by ballot in which two-thirds of those
members voting approve the proposed amendment. Such amendment shell be effective
as of January 1of the following year unless such other effective date shall
have been an integral part of the proposed amendment.
