2023 J-Class Region 6 Championship Regatta (R6CR)

On April 22-23 the Sacramento Model Yacht Club held the 2023 J-Class R6CR on Folsom Lake, near Sacramento, CA where 8 skippers braved light wind conditions to keep their boats moving. The regatta is held in conjunction with the Folsom Lake Yacht Club's 56th running of the Camelia Cup which at one time was the largest inland regatta in the US with 450 boats. On Saturday the winds were so light that only two heats were completed with Paul Brown and Bruce Anderson tied for first. Sunday dawned with hope of some wind and 10 heats were completed before the light Westerly shut down. With a total of 12 heats in the books it was Paul Brown from Sacramento in first place with 13 points followed by Gene Novak in second with 15 points and Bruce Anderson from Idaho in third place with 21 points.

Lunches were provided by Chef Dan Robinson and Race Director duties performed flawlessly by Hall of Famer Bob Eger.
