53rd Annual Liberty Bell Regatta Report March 29rth The Mid-Atlantic MYC held the 53rd Annual Liberty Bell Regatta at Laurel Acres Park in Mount Laurel NJ on Sunday, March 29th. It was the first sailing event of the year for many and it went off without a hitch, mainly due to Judy Bonanno. We can't thank her enough for all the support and time that she gives us. If we gave a trophy for the MVP when we sail, she would win it every time. From all of who sailed, We say. THANK YOU! Now for the sailing! The weather was beautiful all day for our twelve skippers. It was a little chilly, but with the bright sun it felt good. When the first race started the wind was very light, but shortly thereafter it began to build. A sails were used all day and by late afternoon there were some heavy puffs where a B-sail would have been better. With good winds, we were able to get in 13 three lap races, enough so that everyone had a chance to totally test their skills. The Laurel Acres pond played its part with the usual puffs, swirling shifty winds, keeping skippers on their toes. Thank You to all who turned out to sail. Speaking for myself and the other skippers who sailed, I think we all had a super fun day competing with friends. Congratulations to the big guns who finished the day on top, with consistently good sailing. The top five skippers all won races but Dave Ramos grabbed eight of the 13 races sailed to win handily. Top Four: Dave Ramos, 1st, Jamey Betz, 2nd, Scott Graf, 3rd, and Stuart Challoner, 4th. Lastly, thank you to the boat and buoy crews who made our day. We couldn't have done it without you guys.
