2026 Ohio State Championship - Soling 1M Regatta Recap
The 2026 Ohio State Championship for the Soling 1M class was hosted by the Miami Valley Model Yacht Club, bringing together 9 skippers from around Ohio and 2 from Texas for a full day of close, competitive racing.
A total of 18 races were completed in challenging and ever-changing conditions that rewarded consistency, boat speed, and smart tactical decisions. Tight starts, frequent lead changes, and close finishes kept the fleet competitive throughout the event.
Congratulations to Scott Rowland (WJ Sails) for capturing the 2026 Ohio State Championship with an outstanding performance, followed by Bob Bottenhorn in second and Phil Maiese rounding out the podium in third.
The Miami Valley Model Yacht Club extends its thanks to all the competitors, race committee volunteers, and spectators who helped make the championship another successful event. The combination of great racing, good sportsmanship, and camaraderie made for an excellent day on the water. Fair winds, and we will see everyone at the next regatta.
