The CR-914 Region 2 Regatta was held on September 14th and 15th as part of the Chesapeake Performance Models Race week and the Chesapeake Bay Model Racing Association hosted by Cedar Point Marina in Grasonville, MD. Over the two days 25 Races were completed. From the start of the regatta this one felt different. The wind was up on day one, so CR-914 expert and race week organizer David Ramos did a mini tuning clinic for the days conditions. Ensuring that everyone would be set up properly. This created very tight racing, boat speeds were very even bringing the racing to the tactics and thumbs of the skippers. The day had a relaxed feel as we took breaks to check the boats and drain any water that found it's way to places we don't want. Tended to any repairs that need to be addressed and allowed ample time for bio breaks. This led to a lot of camaraderie. The wind cooperated and came right down the long floating dock that Rick Boulay installed specifically for RC sailing at Cedar Point Marina. It was a fun and perfect day for RC sailing. We had 13 races on the scoresheet and a whole lot of new memories of a great day of sailing. Day two started on the outer dock but we soon moved back to the floating docks as the wind filled in. The forecast was for light winds and we weren't sure we would get racing in but we managed to complete 12 races before crowning the Region 2 2026 CR-914 Winners. First Place: Scot Graf - 13 first place finishes Second Place: David Ramos Third Place: Thomas Johnson Each day we broke for lunch as a group allowing us to get to know each other a little better, which is what RC sailing is all about. Many skippers hung out under the tents well after the racing ended. They tended to their boats, inspected other boats to see what tweaks and innovation they could bring to their boats. All while enjoying food and drinks. These two days embodied everything that RC sailing represents. Thank you to RD Judy Bonnano scorekeeper Nikki Ramos Meraz, host Rick Boulay and Race Week organizers David Ramos and Scott Graf. A big thank you to all the competitors, everyone offered a hand over the two days to make it all happen. RC sailing is only made possible by volunteers!
